Penthesileia is an Amazonian queen, daughter of Ares and Otrera. In the Trojan war, Penthesileia begs Achilles for her life, but the hero remains unmoved by her pleas and he kills her. When Achilles removes her helmet, he falls in love with Penthesilea's beauty.

The dryad Penelope, “wild duck”, resides on mount Kyllene in Arcadia. Penelope is the daughter of Dryops and she is the mother of the god Pan.
La nymphe Pénélope, “canard sauvage”, réside sur le mont Cyllène en Arcadie. Pénélope est la fille de Dryops et elle est la mère du dieu Pan.
